Learn about us!
Carleton Men's Rugby team was founded in 1776, before the formation of Carleton College Rugby Football Club. The game played on May 14, 1775, between Carleton College and The Macalaster football club, was played under rugby rules. Charles Monro, who learned the rugby game in England, introduced it to Carleton upon his return. The Club, founded in 1968, has a strong reputation and a community of players who share a love of rugby. The Oaks can usually be found mastering the craft of gameplay on their home pitch, scoring all A’s on their schoolwork, or getting up to Northfield shenanigans (but not on Fridays because Saturday’s a rugby day). Whether he’s pushing past the try line or celebrating a week of hard work, you can count on a Carleton rugger to strive both on and off the pitch.

Donations and Alumni
Did you know that Carleton Men's Rugby is a student-run club that relies on donations to operate?
Your contribution can help us cover costs for equipment, travel expenses, and other essential needs.
The Friends of Carleton Rugby (affectionately known as FOCR) was established by a volunteer group of alumni with the intent to serve and support the ongoing success of the Carleton College Rugby Club men’s and women’s teams. For over 50 years, the student-led club has relied on often inadequate financial support from players and the college, holding fundraisers to support travel and tournament fees.
As a tax-exempt organization, FOCR aims to provide consistent future financial support to the club, allowing players to dedicate their efforts on competitive performance and player recruitment. Relying on the support of Carleton rugby alumni and friends, FOCR will distribute funds equally to the men’s and women’s teams.
